BookIt Review — Air Travel Booking & Comparison Comparison (2012)

BookIt is an online travel website. They offer the ability to book many different types of travel including:

• Hotels
• Flights
• Cruises
• Vacation packages

A particular favorite is the $99 all-inclusive deal. Sadly, this is a bit of a misnomer, because the deals are not for $99 for the package, but often from $99 a night for the hotel. It can be more or it can be less. You can then click on the package price tab to get the pricing for the entire trip. This usually includes flight and hotel. However, it does allow you to compare both nightly rates and package rates for stays at your favorite destinations.

• The ability to book flights and hotel rooms at the same time, possibly saving money with the package deal.
• The ability to compare different types of vacations such as cruises, group vacations and regular destination trips.
• They do offer car rental on the site as well, which means you don’t have to worry how you’re going to get around once you get to your destination.

Travelocity is the major competitor of BookIt. Travelocity differs from BookIt in that BookIt is a much simpler site.

Travelocity offers rail packages, and has deals set up by destination for major cities. However, BookIt accepts BillMeLater and Travelocity does not.

When you search for a flight and hotel package, Travelocity tells you the packages that have the lowest price, and the shortest flight, then allows you to pick those or to pick your hotel and flight manually. You can sort through the hotels in the area by things such as star rating, amenities, price and location.

BookIt, on the other hand, does not let you know what the packages will run. It takes you to the hotel picker page that allows you to sort hotels by price, and to choose minimum star rating, guest rating and listed amenities to help with your search.

Travelocity charged less for my chosen hotel than BookIt did. $742 vs. $833 for my stay at the Hollywood Hotel. However, when the flight was added on, BookIt’s total trip price was lower, $998.10 vs. $1484.51.

BookIt may be the new kid on the block when it comes to travel, but they have better prices on combined trips than the old guard. When comparing them with Travelocity, they came out with a better overall trip price, but Travelocity had lower hotel-only rates.

There are several reasons to use BookIt for your travel:

• The ability to compare different types of vacation packages
• The ability to book group packages
• Overall savings when booking flights and hotel rooms at the same time

The BookIt site is a bit more simplistic than some of it’s bigger competitors, but they offer the same hotels, airlines and other services. It is well worth your time to compare prices on BookIt with those of your regular travel booking service.
